CAD - Renders

Product Design

The focus was to purely learn the software. What started off as creating simple shapes quickly turned to utilising what we learnt to creat real artefacts. We could select our own chosen artefacts that will illustrate techniques we’d learned. Each CAD render was created using Keyshot and modelled on Solidworks.

Overview: Creating a range of artifacts over 12 weeks using the 3D modelling software (Solidworks).

Twelve South HiRise

I decided to start of with basics – therefore chosen a simple charging dock for the iPhone. This allowed me to be comfortable with the program and understand the core basics.

iPhone

This model is something we all carry everyday. The iPhone. Modelling the iPhone has been very challenging due to various shapes and cutouts etc. This phone however had allowed me to use every modelling skill I have acquired over the course of the project as well as enabling me to further enhance other skills such as decals and rendering.

Bentley Perfume Bottle

This third artefact was more complex than the previous two due to the curvature design of the bottle, nevertheless it allowed me to unlock a new tool to build another wall on the inside amongst many more. Utilising the skills and techniques attained from the first 2 artefacts enabled me to be more efficient

Rotary Watch

This 4th Artefact is the Rotary Aviator F-Series watch. I decided to really challenge myself further and thus went with the watch. Using my caliper to accurately measure each component on the watch to get accuracte scale/measurment. This model allowed me to enhance my skills in certain areas of solidworks which I was not familiar or confident with.

Philips Mini Hi-Fi System

So for this final artefact project I decided to choose a product that would really test my skills & knowledge and harness what I had learnt from the previous 4 artefacts.
